Great teachers foster safe learning environments. How do you create a positive climate for learning?

I gain tremendous satisfaction teaching at all levels in the Faculty of Medicine. Engaging students utilizing learning objectives, interactive case based sessions, handouts, reference materials and feedback ensures that educational goals are met in a positive manner. Being available and approachable provides a positive climate for trainees to develop relevant technical and social skills that directly impact patient care. I try to use personal practical experience as the foundation for teaching and utilize well organized interactive case based sessions appropriate for the level of the trainee, handouts, reference materials and constructive feedback to ensure that educational goals are met.
